We received this toy after seeing a neighbors CAT Take-apart toy and let me say our friend's toy is of much better quality. The shiny plastic that they chose to make this toy of means that the all the screws come loose on their own. I have to tighten them if we want them to stay and then my son can't undo it on his own. The CAT toy is made of a matte plastic so the screws stay on even when not tightened all the way making it a truly fun (not frustrating) toy to play with.

This toy is great in theory but I recommend spending the extra few bucks and buy the CAT take-apart toys. I plan on donating this toy and upgrading to the CAT this Christmas. -- Better options available.
I wanted a toy that provided some educational value while not taking away from the fun factor. I build furniture and my two-year-old likes to play with my tools (as long as they're not loud). Anyway, after reading the reviews on this toy, I thought he'd love it.

Right off the bat he was thrilled with the battery operated drill. However, upon close inspection, I realized the toy was missing a nut. He had quickly fallen in love with this truck so I didn't want to send it back. Like other reviews stated, the manufacturer's customer service is great. I called and left a message...about a day and a half later I received a callback. I explained the issue and she sent a replacement part free of charge.

The toy seems very durable and well designed. My two and a half year old does have issues taking apart/assembling the truck alone. This isn't a problem as I anticipated it would be a toy that we enjoyed together. However, I'm excited about how quickly he grasped the idea of using a reversible drill (you do have to flip the switch to change direction like a real drill). His improvements with the "3-D puzzle" have been exciting to watch. As a parent, you must stress the importance of keeping up with all the pieces, but this helps in teaching responsibility and the like at an early age...

It's been a couple months now since the purchase and he still likes to play with it. Not only does he enjoy dis-assembling and re-assembling, but he likes to play with the truck itself (he has a decent collection of toy vehicles). Overall, I think it is an awesome toy for mechanically inclined/interested children who love trucks... -- Nice! Very worthwhile if your little one likes to tinker...
It's a great toy, very fun and attractive to the parents too. The drill is realistic, and my son spent a lot of time taking things apart. The three drill bits are helpful when it comes to teaching him logical thinking and problem solving. He is 3 so he needs help putting it back together, so I hope he doesn't lose interest in it when he's a bit older. So far, he hasn't mastered the putting it together enough to want to do it all the time, but I still think he eventually will. Also, it's not a toy that you often see in local stores, so makes a nice birthday present. -- great toy
This is a great toy! My 3-year-old son loves it, and can put it together himself, with very little adult help. The only problem is that it comes with no extra parts, so if you lose one of the small screws, you can't put the crane together. Another reviewer said that she had lost a small part and called the company, who sent her a replacement free of charge. I just tried the same, but was told that they moved their manufacturing plant to China, and now have no replacement parts. So, if you lose a small part, you can no longer build the crane, unless you want to buy a second toy to use as replacement parts. -- Be careful not to lose any parts
my 4 year old daughter is a doer who loves tools. most things you find at stores will have only minimal function and while she can imagine they don't hold interest for long. this toy however with its interchangeable drill bits teaches concepts like righty tighty/ lefty loosey, the difference between flat and Philips and nuts and bolts vs. screws. once i helped her how to take it apart and put it together she was doing it by herself over and over for several hours. it also helps me reinforce the idea of keeping everything together so when you want to play with it parts aren't missing.

as a mom i think this is a very cool toy! -- great for kids that love tools
